Day 9 – Prayer Focus: Men

Day 9 of our Diocesan “10 Days of Prayer” and the Prayer Focus is ‘Men’.
Following the prayer and prayer points is a video message from Bishop David. God bless

The Song of Zechariah (Luke 1:68-69)
“Praise to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come and has redeemed his people.
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David.”

Let us pray:

Risen Lord,
who gave to his Apostles the Great Commission,
we give you thanks for those men of faith who have shaped our lives.
We pray your blessing on the men of our land and in our world:
in leadership and in service,
in teaching and in learning,
in domesticity and in industry.
Grant to your Church, O Lord
a vision of manhood rooted in your example
as one who came not to be served, but to serve;
and continue, we pray,
to raise up men to fulfil your Great Commission
and so bless those to whom they bear witness.
This we ask in your name O Christ, through the power of your Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Prayer points
* That God would continue to raise up a generation of men and empower them to service in His Church
* For men who may be facing particular challenges in family life as a result of COVID-19 – around budgeting, education, working from home
* For men who are often on the fringes of families’ connection to Church – that they may be drawn nearer in and so closer to God
