Welcome to Day 10, the final day in our Diocesan “10 Days of Prayer”.
Here is the Collect for Pentecost Sunday and also the final set of Prayer Points, followed by our Sunday Worship video with Bishop David, sharing God’s word with us.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, who on the day of Pentecost
sent your Holy Spirit to the apostles
with the wind from heaven and in tongues of flame,
filling them with joy and boldness to preach the gospel:
By the power of the same Spirit strengthen us to witness to your truth and to draw everyone to the fire of your love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
And the Collect of Confirmation (BCP p.384):
Heavenly Father, by water and the Holy Spirit
you give your faithful people new life:
Guide and strengthen us by that same Spirit that we who are born again may serve you in faith and love, and grow into the full stature of your Son Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer Points
* for the power of God’s Holy Spirit to be poured out across our diocese and our land
* that lives will be changed as people encounter this fresh outpouring of the Spirit
* for healing that comes from God’s Spirit – relationships reconciled, sicknesses cured and the burdens of the past relieved
* that God would ‘so correct what is amiss and supply what is lacking that we may more and more bring forth fruit to his glory’. (Adapted from the Prayer for Ireland BCP p.145)
